Supporting Organisation

Recent gruesome infant and child abuse incidents in our country have seen a rise in activism against child and women abuse. One such group/campaign is ISILILO – A Mothers’ Cry Campaign. ISILILO is comprised of celebrated mothers mostly in the music industry who were spurred into action by the brutal rape resulting in disembowelment of baby Tshepang in Alexandra, Johannesburg. These women sought to highlight the plight of abused children by using their status in society. Their action echoed Bono’s statement that “celebrity status is currency, use it.”

ISILILO has pledged their support to COPES-SA. Their fundraising activities have enabled COPES-SA to buy a building in Soweto - COPES-Soweto.. This is the first of the many child abuse centers that COPES-SA is planning to set up.

Membership of ISILILO constitute Sibongile Khumalo , Gail Hamilton Masondo , Nobs Mwanda , Lorraine Hurdus , Vicky Sampson and Jennifer Ferguson* (Ass. member )
